I think what you have to keep in mind is the fact that when they set out to play these shows they did not consider for one moment that forty years later a bunch of obsessive compulsives would sit at home playing one show after the other and fretting about the lack of variety.

Quite an insightful observation! Let's face it, the majority of these recordings were never even intended to be released in any format. The fact that we can sit here and obsess over them 40 years later, is in of it self, pretty remarkable.

But if you don't mind, I will sit here and continue to do just that, because I am an OCD nutbag of the highest order...

It doubtless comes as a surprise to many that the self-same technology that spreads these riches before us has also gifted us such marvels as 'track selection' and 'skip'.
